FILM FEAR 2013
This past Saturday (Oct 26 2013), the Fort McMurray Filmmakers Associations and the YMM Podcast with the Keyano Theatre and Arts Centre brought the 3rd Annual FILM FEAR Halloween Festival to the Keyano Recital Theatre.
To kick-start the event, Nexen Energy proudly announced that they will be providing funding to the Fort McMurray Filmmakers Association via the ReachOut Program over the next 3 years. Cindy Amerongen, Manager of Community & Consultation for Nexen Energy, said they are proud to support the arts and culture in Wood Buffalo and look forward to seeing the YMMFMA grow within the community.
The Film Fear crowd was then treated to some amazing locally produced films such as Kelton Stepanowich’s “Dad”, “We Need to Cook” by Clinton Boucher and Cameron Waitson’s “Love Story”. These short films played along side two films from the UK horror masters, BloodyCuts, and the Reddit Two-Sentence Horror Story adaptations that had the audience cringing and gasping. The films available online are posted below
Hyperphotonic Media’s COVER had it’s world premiere in front of the Film Fear audience. Against past practices, the short film won’t be available online until late 2014 as it is now being submitted to Film Festivals around the world including Canada, United States, Europe and Australia. Details and Behind-the-Scenes coverage from COVER is available at www.cover-thefilm.com
Cecily Perry was announced as the winner of the SexAtSite Video Pitch Contest. Cecily will get $1000 for her concept of “Welcome To Health Class” that will be produced into a YouTube short film in 2014. There will be lots more from the SexAtSite Campaign by the HIV North Society in the coming weeks.
Right before the Film Fear audience experienced FROM DUSK TILL DAWN on the big screen, the creators of Arkham Rising took the stage to reveal their next fan film project. Only the people in attendance were able to witness it as the creators promised to only post the project online when their ARKHAM RISING film reached 100,000 views on YouTube.
